Casa Verde has four bedrooms (two doubles, two twins), two sitting rooms, two bathrooms, a large kitchen/dining room, a patio and garden. This lovely, traditional village house has many original features including terracotta flooring and wooden beams. There are two log burners for getting cosy in winter evenings – one in the downstairs sitting room and one in the kitchen – and fans available for the summer.
Casa Verde has free wireless internet access. We also provide lots of books, games, CDs, videos and DVDs.
Perfectly located opposite a pretty square on an attractive traditional street at the top of historical Alhama, only five minutes to the main square, Casa Verde is a great base for your holiday.
Casa Verde is a super village house which has been beautifully restored to make it a wonderful "home from home" for your holiday. The house and garden provide around 200m sq of accommodation - so plenty of room to spread out and relax.
At the top of the house the main double bedroom has a sloping wooden beamed ceiling, skylight and wooden floorboards. The next bedroom is a twin room, again with sloping wooden ceiling, wooden floorboards and a lovely view of the square. Downstairs, next to the bathroom, is another twin room and the second double bedroom which has a balcony overlooking the garden and ceiling fan. The upstairs shower room is finished in a Moroccan style with mosaic floor and “rainwater” shower. This floor also has a sitting room with antique terracotta floor, wooden beamed ceiling and balcony overlooking the flower beds and roses in the square opposite. The ground floor has another comfy sitting room; cool and protected from the heat in the summer and with the log burner for cosy winter evenings. Next door is a bathroom, again with handmade mosaic floor. And finally, the kitchen/dining room is at the back of the house; again protected from the heat by 2ft thick walls. Casa Verde is on 3 levels & has steps to garden, stairs to top floor are quite steep. The shower-room/loo is on the same level as two of the bedrooms. There are handrails and two way lighting on all stairs. Please ask if you have any questions about this or accessibility in general.
The kitchen leads onto the patio which has a BBQ, tomato and pepper plants and seating/dining for 8. Downstairs is a lovely terracotta tiled, walled private garden with flower beds - fig tree, honeysuckle, ivy, mimosa and rose bushes. The garden gets loads of sun all day but you can find a shady spot too. Between May and October there will be an above ground splash pool measuring 2.44m wide by 78cm deep.
There's also a shower for cooling down, paddling pools and a hosepipe for the kids to play with and comfortable loungers for catching the rays.
There are some great options for going for a refreshing swim in the summer months. In the town of Alhama itself there is an outdoor pool with a lovely shaded/grassed area and a little bar. Less than 10 minutes drive out of town brings you to Pato Loco (Crazy Duck) which is a great rural restaurant with a swimming pool where you can relax and while away the afternoon. The Rio Alhama, in the gorge, has a number of delightful swimming holes. Gorgeous Lake Bermejales is a great place to swim as the water is cool and fresh; delightful after lunch and sunbathing on the shores.
We can put you in touch with someone local who does airport pickups if you don't fancy bringing a car - and there's plenty of on street parking by the house if you do.
