Alhama de Granada, in the fertile heart of the Poniente Granadino in Southern Andalucia, is the perfect holiday destination. The town of Alhama offers history dating from Roman times through Moorish reign and up to modern days. Alhama is very attractive, traditional, bustling and precariously positioned running along the edge of an enormous limestone gorge, Los Tajos. Along the bottom of the gorge run the Rios Alhama and Merchan. Nearby, hot springs gurgle into four thermal pools next to the Rio Merchan. The town has grand, imposing Medieval architecture and lively bars surrounding attractive squares. Surrounding Alhama are soft, pastel shaded rolling hills, attractive small villages and stunning views extending to looming mountain ranges. |

| WHERE IS ALHAMA AND HOW DO I GET THERE? Alhama de Granada is in Andalucia in southern Spain. If you were to draw a diagonal line on a map between Malaga and Granada, you would find Alhama to be located roughly in the middle and is therefore easily accessible from either of these cities and their airports. The city of Malaga is approximately 1.15 hours and Granada is about 45 minutes drive from Alhama. Ryanair are flying to Granada from Liverpool and London Stansted and there are loads of bargain flights available on their website. For up-to-the-minute information, check out the 'Latest News' on the Ryanair website as Granada airport is expanding and more routes are expected soon. Easyjet fly direct to Malaga from Belfast, Bristol, Liverpool, London(all airports), Newcastle, Nottingham, East Midlands and Glasgow.
